Before letting an inspector on site make sure they are competent and have experience. How many years have they been doing inspections? How much experience do they have analyzing lab results? Can they comprehend the margin of error? Do they understand the counts and how to apply them?
Pre-qualify your inspector. Ask for pricing and if travel time is additional. How much are samples? If a simple air sample is $90 or more, move on. Listen to how they talk, if they sound like they want to sell you every service and test there is, move on.
High pressure sales. If they sound like they are pressuring you to move on this decision you might want to reconsider their services. Additionally if they offer a sale, definitely move on to the next company. If you go into court and it’s discovered that a large discount was offered, good luck explaining that.
